Zombie Drabble - Faster

Here is a bit of zombie nanofiction (100-word Flash Fiction) that I originally posted over on the Zombie Squad Forum. Enjoy!

Faster

I ran with her, I  trained her, I encouraged her, and I even slept with her when her  husband was away on business.  But, her training regime was never going  to work, she wouldn’t cut back on all her fancy iced coffees.  She blew  off aerobic workouts regularly.  She huffed and she puffed, but she paid  me.

I bet she doesn’t worry about her husband’s pretty  receptionist now.  Her protein diet and her half-assed workouts don’t  matter.  Back when we had a hundred dead people shuffling along behind  us on our run, only one thing truly mattered. I was faster.

Zombie Complex - Minor Tweaks and Revisions!

Sometimes after you've completed a project, you'll revisit it with a set of fresh eyes and you'll find little things to fix and improve.  I took a look at Zombie Complex last week with an eye for finding defects and making small improvements.  As a result, I reformatted the Kindle edition to make it more readable with better line spacing.

My copies of the paperback edition also arrived and they looked awesome.  Unfortunately, they were missing page numbers.  Fortunately, that was an easy fix.  I simply added page numbers and a thank you section and re-released that edition back into the wild.

If you want a cool looking paperback for your bookshelf or coffee table, Zombie Complex, is the book to get.  If you've set aside your kindle version, resynch and revisit it in the new format.  It'll be far easier for you to read.

Either way, thank you for reading!  Thank you for any reviews you might leave!  And, keep watching this space.  There will be more to come!

Zombie Complex is now available in paperback!

Great news!  You can now buy Zombie Complex (http://amzn.to/2FAvBT0) in paperback form.  Now you can experience the zombie fighting action in the comfort of your bathroom or late at night when you don't want to fiddle with electronics.

Over the past month or two, many people have told me that they didn't have a Kindle Reader.  While you can easily get Kindle for PC or Kindle for Mac,  I'm really glad that Amazon has a print-on-demand option that allows authors to publish traditional books.  Now, if you want to experience the struggle against zombies in paperback, you can!

The Big Knife You Need For The Zombie Apocalypse: Gordon Survival Knife

If Zombies Come, You'll Need A Knife

If you've ever watched, The Walking Dead or read my novel, Zombie Complex, you know that big sharp knives are a vital survival tool during a Zombie Apocalypse.  The only way to kill a zombie is by destroying its brain or decapitating it.  That means you'll need a big knife.

Good Knife for the Price

Over the years, I've looked at many of them and one stands out as an outstanding and affordable value:  the Gordon 8-inch Survival Knife.  It is generally available for less than $10 at Harbor Freight tools.  If you are going to spend a few bucks prepping for zombies, civil unrest, or natural disaster, this knife is one heck of a buy.

The knife is solidly constructed and has an 8-inch Stainless Steel blade.  It has a hollow handle that is packed with survival supplies including fishing line, matches, and fishing hooks.  Inside the pommel, you'll even find a a built in compass that works.

Potential Improvements

Since there is plenty of room inside the handle, I would recommend upgrading the contents of this knife with even better survival options.  More matches, more fish hooks, a bobber, and rudimentary first aid supplies could be added to the inside the handle kit.

Where to Get This Survival Knife

This knife seems to be sold under different names on Amazon.  However, Harbor Freight brick-n-mortar hardware stores still appear to be the least expensive place to get this knife.  While there are knives with a better pedigree by big name knife makers, this one is a great one to have in your inventory or to share with others in your party in case of an emergency.  It's also cheap enough to actually keep in a tackle box or store in your boat or in the trunk of your car so that you'll have it if you actually need it.  The only caution would be that this is a big knife with a big blade so check your local laws on knives and knife carry.

Zombie Apocalypse Writings in Progress

I have some plans for writing in 2018.  I'm currently working on a novella that continues to develop the world shown in Zombie Complex and "Dog Walk of the Apocalypse."  If you like The Walking Dead, you'll like this work.  The new novella is progressing nicely and will be published in the next month or two.

As a writer, writing this novella exercise has been a bit of a stretch for me.  Zombie Complex is written from the perspective of an American who has been negatively impacted by the outsourcing of jobs to guest workers.  Unfortunately, it's a perspective that I know all too well in my day job.    However, the upcoming novella will be written from the perspective of a young Indian woman who is here in the United States as a guest worker.

How to Make Publicity Posters for Your Book (Part 2)

If you need to make publicity posters for your book or any other project, the solution is as close as your smartphone.  When I wanted to up my poster game for my book Zombie Complex, I found several poster creation apps in the Google Play store.

I used the app, Poster Maker, to create these posters.  While the user interfaces aren't always the easiest, the available fonts and backgrounds really give these publicity posters a professional feel.

I was able to use PosterMaker in conjunction with photographs that I already had on my phone.  Fortunately, I had plenty of suitable photos available.  I think this one captures the creepiness of urban Atlanta at night and has a bit of a zombie feel.
